Bathroom Makeover - In Progress!

Well, I don't even know if I would call it a "makeover" vs. a "refresh."  Our entryway bathroom was in pretty good shape when we moved in about three years ago.  The paint just needed to be refreshed, the outlets need to be updated, new wallplates were needed.  Again, this is still a work in progress.  I need to get the "before" photos from my other computer.

Top half: Soar by Behr
Bottom Half: Brown Teepee by Behr

We still need to paint the crown moulding, chair rail, baseboards, and toe moulding.  Fun!

The door was lightly sanded and then painted with white semi-gloss by Behr.  We replaced the door handles.  These are called "Tustin" and are satin nickel from HD.

The lights were already there when we moved in...likewise for the vanity, sink, and faucet.  The towel is new and from PB.  The vanity is quite old...we think it is original to the house which was built in 1990...but at this point, we're not replacing it.  We will replace the knobs though.  Mark has since replaced the electrical socket and light switch - no more yellowish white!

Last Day at Work!

Yesterday was my last day at work!  I had been with the company for five years...actually my anniversary was in January and I just ordered my "gift" before I left.  I'm leaving one financial services company and going to another one.  That's kind of risky to do in light of how financial services companies have been doing in the past two years.  About a year and a half ago, my now "former" company had went through extensive layoffs.

But you have to take risks to get ahead and if you don't take risks you will always wonder.  My new company is actually a few blocks from my old one.  We'll also be moving to a brand new building at the end of April...ironic considering my old company had just moved to a new building in September...the best building in the city in my opinion.  Oh well!

I have today and tomorrow off and I start the new gig on Monday.  Let's hope I can be productive at home on my days off!  hmmm right now I'm eating a crab pretzel and watching Lost.

"Go make some money!"

Our sweet golden retriever, Tucker, had a bit of an accident the other day...on our bed.

This is kind of gross, but anyway, he threw up his food during the day while we were at work.  Who knows what happened, but well, it ruined our sheets.  Thankfully our duvet cover was not affected.

Mark, my husband, says to Tucker tonight, "You owe me sheets, boy.  Go make some money!  I don't care how, maybe get a modeling gig."  haha

Dreams About Vampires

It's quite hard to blog during the week since 1. I am at work and quite busy as I wrap up everything and 2. Weeknights are hard...I'm trying to limit my internet time on weeknights to try to be more productive around the house.  Too bad watching the Olympics has taken the place of internet surfing/research.

Anyway, a few nights ago I had this vivid, bizarre, and at times scary dream (not quite a nightmare).  My dream combined the Twilight series with the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I dreamt that I could read the minds of others (a la Sookie and Edward)...Edward and I were talking to each other in our minds.  But then there was this really tall woman...who happened to be a shifter (Sookie series).  She was a villan though.  Somehow Edward and I could no longer read each other's minds or those of others and this shifter was after us.

Strange I know.  Maybe it's time to step away from the Vampire books?

Snow in Maryland - Blizzard Style

Just catching up on older posts...

We've had quite a few snow storms and blizzards here in Maryland this winter...something we're not used to!

Some fun photos. Keep in mind Tucker is a large dog...he's 100 pounds and the snow is higher than he is.

"Get off the roof dad!"

My sister and her boyfriend just stopped by our house on their way home from dinner. My sister is younger than me and bravely lives at home (though she is saving a ton of money). She informed me that today my dad got some idea, "I'm going to clean the chimney today." He proceeded to climb up on the roof of their house to try this task.

Ummm we have had two, yes two blizzards in the past week. BLIZZARDS people. The snow is not melting...it is still everywhere, so it's on the roof...and there is probably ice too. Yet my dad thinks it's okay to go on the roof to clean the chimney. So odd. My mom just shakes her head. All of the neighbors stop by to observe and say, "are you sure today is the best day to do this?"

Oh dear.

Where to Find Rugs

The quest to find a rug for our basement continues.

Here is a list of places I have/plan to looked/look:

Crate & Barrel
Pottery Barn
Ikea
Target
Home Depot
Lowe's
Overstock
Smart Bargains

Why yes, I am quite obsessive when it comes to researching some purchases. Then I usually go out, eat, have some drinks, come home and shop online. That's not too safe huh? Well it happened last night after we went out to dinner...my J. Crew 20% off coupon was due to expire that night and I submitted my order just before midnight. Shopping under the influence...

Happiness is...

...Tucker, our golden retriever! He is such a happy dog. When I get home from work he get so excited and wags his tail so hard that he ends up hitting himself in the face with it...no joke! That tail is like a whip, hitting the walls and cats.

He is also so cute when he drinks water...that sounds lame, but really, he gets these little water droplets that stay on his nose.

Here is a video of Tucker having a blast kicking his legs.

"I Only Know Sanskrit"

Really? This is what our new yoga instructor told us today...that she does not know the English terms for certain moves...that she wasn't trained in the US.

She was good I guess, but let's just say I miss our old instructor Susannah who just had this special gift. Alas, she is pregnant and about to deliver. Sigh, I can't wait until she comes back in May...in the meantime, I have not been feeling too relaxed, more flexible, or stronger as a result of today's session.

It's amazing when you find awesome instructors and disappointing when they leave or take a leave of absence. Maybe I need to learn Sanskrit in the meantime. Oh also, there were quite a few guys in the class today...that's quite impressive. One didn't know what he was in for, another had really bad breath, and another was quite flexible.
